The cable

Every grill we supply is stranded stainless steel cable, coated in nylon. The strands carry the load, the coating keeps water and salt off the steel and stops the cable marking your hands or the paintwork. An uncoated cable rusts from the inside out because water sits between the strands, so we do not fit it.

The grade

Molybdenum is what makes 316 survive salt air. If your building is close to the sea, or you can see the water from the balcony, the small extra per foot is the difference between a grill that looks new in ten years and one with brown streaks down the wall in three.

The anchors

The anchors take the whole load of the system, so they matter as much as the cable. We use stainless bosses set into drilled holes, and chemical anchors where the wall is hollow block or thin plaster. Mild steel plugs and epoxy that goes brittle in the sun are how a grill fails years later, quietly.

What to check before you pay

Ask for the grade stamped on the cable reel, not just promised on the invoice
Check the coating is continuous, with no bare steel at the ends
Ask what the anchors are made of and how deep they go
Ask what the tension is set to and how it is checked
Ask what the warranty covers — coating, cable or only workmanship

Select suitable spacing based on the safety requirements.
Use corrosion-resistant fittings appropriate for the installation environment.
Ask for written warranty terms and installation-service details.

Clean periodically and inspect cables, fixing points and frames. Arrange a professional inspection if you notice loose cables, damaged coating or corrosion; do not adjust cable tension yourself.
